bernina 'n' sewing

My city was flooded a couple of weeks back which was really really good because the ground water level has raised but the roads are in a terrible condition and driving is a nightmare.
I've managed to do some embroidery and sewing .
I taught a friend to do line quilting and how to use a walking foot on my old bernette machine which I'm using for classes now since I have bought a bernina. I'm still learning how to use the bernina 380..tried a couple of things like FHS last week but am not comfortable yet.

Another friend of mine wants a quilt made of traditional patchwork blocks using scraps.I'm sure it'll be a WIP project for a long time.

I had cut some 3'',4'' and 5'' squares from the scrap fabric and finished few blocks..

To get used to a new sewing machine takes time and until then there will be some sloppy work I guess..I'd missed the precision sewing at some corners which looks very bad so I'll have to frog and re-do :-(
Do you use a bernina 3 series ? Please do share with me if you have any tips.

Happy sewing!
Anita

  1. i have a Bernina that is quite a few years old but has lots of 'bells and whistles' and fancy stitches. i took a 2 week class at the local sewing shop to learn how to use it....and still refer to the manual when i don't remember something. there are lots of Bernina videos online to help. just google your problem and i bet you'll find an answer.

  2. Your blocks are looking nice !! :) I have Usha Janome stitch magic which I got 8years back and I can sew only the basic things. Where do you get batting from and do you add the same for sewing a cushion?

  3. I am sure you will soon master the new machine, today my new home is going in for a service it is 34 years old but so many people have told me they are better at quilting than the bernina so I am getting a walking foot for it too and will see if I have more succes. The foot will also fit my little elna toos

  5. At least you're using a sewing machine.A few years ago I started a patchwork project, without a machine of course and to this day I haven't finished it.
