Aaha moments!

Hi!
Today I’d like to show y’all some of my first attempts.
There are many mistakes but at that point of time these were my aaha moments.
My very first cutwork…….

Look at the petals in the center, they are not even at all. That was one of my poor transferring technique .

My mom’ had asked me to practice chain stitch and chain stitch filling . This is what I'd stitched . The ground fabric should not be visible so my aim was to stitch as close as possible. I think I’d managed to fill the shape with chain stitch. What do y’all think?
Do write to me about your first attempts.....Feel free to leave your comments.
Happy stitching!
Anita.

Hi Anita, I forgot to ask you something - which thread do you normally use for cutwork?

Anita said...

@Ina-I'd worked these cutwork samplers long time back.I'd used only Anchor stranded cotton then. But now I use stranded cotton and pearl cotton#8 for all my cutwork.I'll post images of some pieces which I've stitched using both threads soon...

I think you were sooo lucky to have a Mother who cared enough to spend time encouraging (or forcing lol) you to learn to stitch so beautifully. Even if you didn't en enjoy doing it then, it's obvious that it's become a passion now ... something you will have forever.
I adore your cutwork! I can't imagine how you managed to do it so beautifully ... especially of that fabric. You really have it perfected! :-)

@ Wendyfay - Thank you so much.
I enjoyed learning this then and now I enjoy even more because I can experiment with the fabric and design a piece with more confidence. It was little difficult to do this cutwork because of the thin and not closely woven fabric I chose.
