stole

I'm very happy to show y'all my first big weaving project :-)

It's a stole woven with 40/2 cotton thread on a 4 heddle loom.

I've learnt so much working on this and also recorded my mistakes throughout the process. My goal for this year is try and improve my skills.Hope I'll be able to do that if I don't make the same mistakes again.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Wip - Stole

I was always fascinated by handloom fabrics and one of my wishes was to learn the art of weaving someday. I'm so happy that I was able to do that this year.
After learning the basics from a master weaver my friend and I decided to weave a stole.

Close up of the pattern..

There are a couple of mistakes and some tension issues but I will work harder to get it correct...

I was really worried whether I'll be able to remember all the math and get the pattern correct but after few hours of weaving I'm in a happy place..

little progress...

a new weaving sampler in progress...

made some pleating swatches..planning to turn these into a block or a pillow

added some tiny seed stitches in the stylized horse project..

mystery x stitch progress...
I had stopped teaching art full time four years back and after thinking a lot about my friend's suggestion (who comes to my studio for open classes)I've now decided to offer 1-2 hours open embroidery classes once a week from mid June – mid August. Hope everything goes well during those 2 months..

Happy stitching!

more weaving and embroidery....

It's good to be back with some new projects to share :-)
My weaving experiments are going great and I tried some spinning as well which was totally fun..
As of now me and my friend are trying to pick up the nuances of warping a loom..

My mother wanted to do a bit of recycling old clothes..
so we are weaving a mat out of an old saree..

I've started a new freestyle embroidery project which will be suitable for a beginner level class..may be I'll open my studio doors for beginners this summer..

I've planned to use shades of red with little yellow ochre and black and a wide variety of stitches..Hope my stylized horse will look handsome :-(

A new cross stitch project..It's an anchor DIY kit which I'd bought 8 years back..too bad I didn't finish it,right?
It's a kind of floral wreath/garland pattern but I don't know how this will turn out because there is no color photograph in the kit, only black and white chart is included..so it's going to be a kind of mystery project..

Happy stitching!

warp n weft

I've always wanted to learn weaving on a loom but it didn't happen until now. I'm so happy that my wish has come true this year. Some of the samples I've made so far..

I've knitted some more rounds and the aster doily looks like this as of now..

Only twelve more rounds to knit so it's so close to the finish line.

Happy stitching!
