floral wreath

I'm very happy to strike off one more project from the WIP list before Christmas.

Got to rinse it off and then think about finishing ideas.

Happy stitching!

mystery project a.k.a floral wreath

We've had heavy rains this season which is very good..almost 20 cm rainfall was recorded this week in the place where I live..
I had to stay indoors most of the time so I spent my time planning some new projects, weaving and adding more stitches to the floral wreath project..

so far a quarter of the wreath is completed.

more stitches...

I've made only little progress on the mystery cross stitch wreath project..

finished the horse's blanket or whatever it's called..There are about 8 stitches used in the blanket alone.

added some french knots to the horse's head.

I've also stitched a needle point band...

little progress...

a new weaving sampler in progress...

made some pleating swatches..planning to turn these into a block or a pillow

added some tiny seed stitches in the stylized horse project..

mystery x stitch progress...
I had stopped teaching art full time four years back and after thinking a lot about my friend's suggestion (who comes to my studio for open classes)I've now decided to offer 1-2 hours open embroidery classes once a week from mid June – mid August. Hope everything goes well during those 2 months..

more weaving and embroidery....

It's good to be back with some new projects to share :-)
My weaving experiments are going great and I tried some spinning as well which was totally fun..
As of now me and my friend are trying to pick up the nuances of warping a loom..

My mother wanted to do a bit of recycling old clothes..
so we are weaving a mat out of an old saree..

I've started a new freestyle embroidery project which will be suitable for a beginner level class..may be I'll open my studio doors for beginners this summer..

I've planned to use shades of red with little yellow ochre and black and a wide variety of stitches..Hope my stylized horse will look handsome :-(

A new cross stitch project..It's an anchor DIY kit which I'd bought 8 years back..too bad I didn't finish it,right?
It's a kind of floral wreath/garland pattern but I don't know how this will turn out because there is no color photograph in the kit, only black and white chart is included..so it's going to be a kind of mystery project..

a little progress

I've spent little more time to knit the aster doily this week.

After knitting some more rounds with the dpns I've changed it to a circular needle and so far I've knitted about 50 rounds and there are about 350+ stitches in the needle right now.

Also added a few more stitches to the blue and white x stitch piece.A couple of stems and buds are there now and the big rose is almost over except for a couple of stitches on the left.

Happy stitching!

blue threads and more laces..

I'm working on the roses and leaves inside the inner frame of the blue/white cross stitch project and this is where it is right now.

Also started a knitted aster doily from McCall's needlework treasury book. It's a round doily and I've finished about 1/3rd of the doily

I've crocheted some laces too ..the white lace is attached to a towel and the bands are for a pillow.

Both the patterns are from Ondori lace book.
A foggy view from my balcony :-)

I took this photo yesterday morning around 8 and the photo below was taken few months back from the same angle..
I've transferred the pattern onto the fabric for a new crewel embroidery project..more on that next time.
Happy stitching!

blue and white threads

WISHING Y'ALL A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The cross project took most of my stitching time this week and I've finished the inner frame.

The pattern is so pretty, isn't it? It is from Anchor but unfortunately the name of the designer was not included in the chart. If any of you know the name of the designer please let me know and I'll update this post.

Also doing some free motion embroidery now..

see y'all next year :-)

Happy stitching!

WIP and new fb page..

We are on facebook now :-) Please do like my page to get an update and have a look at my work table chaos ..
I did manage to start a couple of new projects this week.I am on a sewing spree right now..had to sew a couple of runners..luckily I did manage to complete the quilting part today...have to finish the binding tomorrow otherwise I'll be in trouble :-(

This pillow pattern is from Anchor.Since this is a monochromatic pattern it's really difficult to follow the chart.I've finished 1/4th of the inner frame and little bit of the middle rose section.

I've also added some stitches on the third petal of the iris.

A lovely view from my balcony. It's a paddy field and these crops will be ready for the harvest festival next month.

Happy stitching!

Floral band

Hi !
Bronchitis is bothering me a lot this season. In addition to the climatic conditions inhaling too much of paint/varnish since my neighbors have decided to pick this time of the year to renovate their flats has done its job L
Since I was not well for the past few days I ended up doing cross stitch after a long time which doesn’t require much thinking/planning …

I’ve used aida fabric and stranded cotton threads, attached the floral border to a Turkish towel.

Happy stitching!
Anita.
