WIP saree...

Hi !
I’d like to share images of my WIP maybe I should say WISP saree with y’all.

I've finished the border of the saree and blouse (approximately 10 mts length) and started motifs only recently. To embroider a saree is really difficult sometimes because of the repetition of the pattern with same colour scheme.

It’s a silk saree and the embroidery is with silk threads. Lots more to stitch, so I guess I need some encouraging words right now to complete this saree J.
Have a happy weekend where ever you are!

Happy stitching!
Anita.

this is certainly a big project but so worth doing, it is looking lovely,
every stitch you make means there is one less to do!

I wish you all the best. I started Kutch embroidery on saree long time back & never got it completed. It was also with silk thread.

The saree border is the most tiring thing. And I was adding beads on every center diamond.
I finished the saree end(pallu) first & the motifs on the body. But the border I could not complete at all. later I handpainted maroon color on the rest.
But it is not wearable now, it is a pure silk saree without zari. For all the effort, time & money, it is blissfully sleeping in my cupboard.
Then I decided, embroidery on dress material(especially saree is impossible for me)

Kasuti must be lot more tougher with the usage of net.
I appreciate your perseverance in completing the border first.
Wishing you luck.

Hi Anita,
Georgoeus one. I admire your patience. Are u doing with Kasuti net or just transferring the design using carbon? How many strands of silk thread r u using for this project. What type of silk material u r using?

I am also doing a kasuti project in saree which has a border. I am doing some big and small motifs. will show u once it is completed.

C'est un trés joli travail mais qui est long, aussi je pense qu'il faut beaucoup de patience et l'imaginer lorsqu'il sera terminé;
Bon courage

Thank you all.
@ Shammi - I'm using 2 strands and am stitching by just counting the threads.
@ Shangeetha - Have you ever thought of making the saree into a dress? I think your effort won't be a waste then...

Oh, my, that is lovely so far!
And just to think, even 150 years ago ALL embroidered clothing was done by hand, and up to I think 100 years ago the only embroidery machine was one that would do aari.
@ Shangeetha - If you embroidered half the sari and painted the other half, you might even have fabric for 2 different kameez! (Kameezes? Is there a plural form of this word?)

Hi Anita - this is so gorgeous!
I can't believe you count the threads to do your stitching, though. Of course it explains the precision of your stitching - but sari fabric has threads that are sooo thin - I would never be able to do that! Don't you get headaches?

You're such an inspiration!

Thanks Isabelle. I do get headaches:) This is a light weight and transparent saree and I work on this saree only in daylight so it was easy to count the threads .

Anita your work and dedication are both amazing. 10 metres...WOW!! Are you using a frame to hold the fabric firmly?
The design is so delicate and will be fabulous when completed.

It is already beautiful.

Great Work Actually :-)
yes I did try to stitch into a Top, but It is too pretty to be cut( In tamil, we say kakkaiku than kunjum pon kunju - any child is too dear for mother)

Some day I'm thinking of carefully cutting the pallu & framing it or give backing cloth & make it into a wall hanging kinds.

The fabric paint I used on saree is not a neat work. So I'm not using.

Thanks Anita for the suggestions & pushing me to do something about the saree. Now I have framed the pallu & made it as wall hanging.
