An old student of mine called a few
days back to wish me...We celebrate teacher's day on September 5th
here in India. She was talking about my initial stages as a designer
(?!) and teacher.I was partly happy to hear her version of 'me' but
felt embarrassed most of the time :)
I met a friend on saturday at a coffee
shop and we ended up talking about 'me' again, sounds weird isn't it?
My friend asked me if I remember when I'd sold my very first
design/kit and all those memories flooded back into my thoughts very
quickly. I sold my first kit in September 1993 (20 years!) Like any
teen-age girl I bought a pair of gold ear-rings with that money,still
have the ear-rings with me:)
I didn't have PC,printer etc. back then
so I hand painted the design onto the fabric and all the instructions
were hand written by me ,wish I'd taken a picture of my first kit.
I came back home ,searched my journal
and ended up re-stitching an old peacock design to celebrate.I wish
all of you are here with me having a piece of cake ,sharing my little
success and happiness...
I just followed my notes without
changing much just to remember the past, only addition is
beads/spangles .
If I'd stitched this peacock for the
first time now I would have reduced the red color. My mother suggested
that I should design another peacock for kutch embroidery, make it
into a DIY kit or digital download, any suggestions?
Please feel free to comment ..
Happy stitching!
Anita.

That`s a beautiful peacock ! I loved the stitches and the colors you have used .
such wonderful memories. and special that you were remembering with friends.
Of course your former students are impressed; to make such a stunning design at the age of 20, to do all the hard work (design painted by hand onto fabric, instructions handwritten...) and to feel humble about it, that IS impressive.
Do continue to make impressive designs!
BYW, what a good thing to celebrate Teacher's Day.
beautiful Anitha...smitten by the kutch work beauty on peacock..may copy the idea someday..:)
I know the money earned by passion give immense happiness...this is lovely design,,,hats off to your talent!
congratulations on 20 years of design and selling your kits.
The peacock is LOVELY!Pls give us the pattern and the instructions on how to stitch it (if it is not copyrighted).
Beautiful Anita. Nice application of kutch work.
I like the red in the design - I don't use much red in my own stitching, oddly, but I like it when I see it!
I can see that design being popular in a lot of places. That peacock and maybe a similar one would make stunning sofa pillows. Altho I don't like sequins/spangles on sofa pillows, I'd be afraid they'd catch on people's clothes, if they leaned against the pillow.
I think a kutch peacock would be really amazing.
I would love to buy a copy of the downloadable pattern if you make it available. It's beautiful!
Neat Stitching. It will be a good idea to design a Kutch work peacock. Good Luck.
Your neatness is amazing.
I love your embroidery, it is bright and beautiful.
Lindo! Gosto muito dos pontos e das cores que você usou!
Um abraço!

Gorgeous ,and for those of us not living near you digital downloads would be great.
Not too much red really and whats wrong with buying some earrings especially as you still have them.
