Stitch tutorial - Battlemented blanket stitch

I had to finish some CQ seams last week so I took my old samplers out,looked for some interesting stitch combination and this stitch caught my attention right away.

Battlemented blanket stitch is stitched with four or more colours/shades of thread.

Step 1 – Thread the needle with first colour and make a row of blanket stitches as shown.

Step 2 – Make another row of blanket stitches slightly below the first one with second colour thread.

Step 3 – Make another row of blanket stitches slightly below the second one with third colour thread.

Step 4 – Make another row of blanket stitches slightly below the third one with fourth colour thread.

                                                   

                                                                         A pretty simple yet beautiful stitch,isn't it?

Stitch tutorial - Macramé Stitch

Today I'd like to share another lovely stitch tutorial with y'all.

Macramé stitch looks like Palestrina stitch but they are not the same..

Draw 2 lines a couple of mm apart.

Step 1 – Bring the needle and thread up in the lower line at 'a'.

Step 2 – Go down at 'b',come up at 'c' and pull the thread. A diagonal stitch is made.

Step 3 – Pass the needle and thread under the diagonal stitch as shown and pull.

Step 4 – Keeping the loop formed in step 3 to your left pass the needle and thread under the diagonal stitch again as shown.

Step 5 – Pull the needle so that the second loop sits close to the first one on the diagonal stitch.

Step 6 – Make another diagonal stitch slightly closer to the first knot as shown.

Step 7 – The diagonal stitch should look like this.

Step 8 – Repeat steps 3,4 and 5 .

Repeat steps 6,7 and 8 until end.

black saree

I'd like to thank y'all for your e-mail wishes and comments on fb page.I'm doing good now..I was surrounded by smoke,cement dust,paints.. and my poor lungs couldn't take much :-(

I do wear saree but not often..I enjoy embellishing a saree though..                                      

The fabric is raw silk.I've used silk and stranded cotton threads.                            

To embroider a saree is not an easy task..got to cross some frustrating moments..repetition is not fun always..
