Stitch tutorial - German blanket stitch

A slight twist adds an interesting effect to a simple stitch.
This stitch looks like knotted blanket / up and down blanket stitch but it's much easier to work.

Step 1 – Make a pair of slant blanket stitches as shown.

Step 2 – Pass the needle and thread through both the blanket stitches from right to left without picking up the fabric and pull the needle.

Step 3 – Repeat step 1.

Step 4 – Repeat step 2.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until end.

                  Happy stitching!
Anita

Yes, a charming stitch - very ornamental!

Clever idea. Looping would hold the stitch secure and also give it more texture. I'll try this.

Thanks Anita for sharing.

Neat stitch and thanks for the tute Anita.
Anita, if you have used this stitch in your dress or quilting, pls show us that too. Just to get an idea of where and how to use the different stitches.

I have not been stitching lately and have many pending things.
Everytime I see your stitch tutorial, I really want to try it in something but starting another project becomes scary and so I leave it.
Will try in the next possible one and update you :-)

Thanks,
Sangheetha.

@ nsangheetha - Please show your version of this stitch as soon as you finish. I don't remember where I'd used this stitch right now but will try to find out. A student/friend said that I come up with weird stitch combinations and suggested to post them in my fb page or form a group so that many people can learn, try and share...what do you think?
