Stitch tutorial - Laced running stitch variation

I'd like to share another variation of laced running stitch with y'all.
It's a simple yet beautiful stitch and one of my favorite CQ seam treatment.

Step 1 – Work three rows of aligned running stitches.

Step 2 – Thread the needle with a second colour and come up near the bottom of the first running stitch column as shown.

Step 3 - Pass the needle and thread under all the three stitches without piercing the fabric as shown and pull the needle.

Step 4 – Pick up a small stitch in the space between two columns as shown and pull the needle.

Step 5 – Pass the needle and thread through the next column of stitches from the top and pull the needle.

Step 6 - Pick up a small stitch in the space between two columns as shown and pull the needle.

Repeat steps 3,4,5 and 6 until end.

                                    Happy stitching!

a little progress

I've spent little more time to knit the aster doily this week.

After knitting some more rounds with the dpns I've changed it to a circular needle and so far I've knitted about 50 rounds and there are about 350+ stitches in the needle right now.

Also added a few more stitches to the blue and white x stitch piece.A couple of stems and buds are there now and the big rose is almost over except for a couple of stitches on the left.

Happy stitching!

Stitch tutorial - Threaded Blanket stitch

I'd like to share a new stitch with y'all and it will be a lovely addition to my 'not so popular' stitch tutorial series.
If you are looking for a border stitch or a new CQ seam treatment then you might like this :-)

Step 1 : Work 2 rows of blanket stitches 3 or       4 mm apart and facing each other as shown in the image.
Note: The stitch length of the top row  is same but in the bottom row every third blanket stitch is slightly longer than the others.

Step 2 : Thread the needle with a second color and come up near the first stitch of the top row and pass the needle under the first 2 stitches without piercing the fabric from left to right as shown and pull.

Step 3 : Pass the needle under the first long stitch of the bottom row from right to left as shown and pull.

Step 4 : Miss the next stitch on the top row and pass the needle under the next 2 stitches as shown and pull.  Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you reach the end.

You could also bring the second color up near the first stitch of the bottom row as shown.

This is how it'll look after you finish threading the blanket stitches.

Happy Pongal to those of you who celebrate.
Happy stitching!

blue threads and more laces..

I'm working on the roses and leaves inside the inner frame of the blue/white cross stitch project and this is where it is right now.

Also started a knitted aster doily from McCall's needlework treasury book. It's a round doily and I've finished about 1/3rd of the doily

I've crocheted some laces too ..the white lace is attached to a towel and the bands are for a pillow.

Both the patterns are from Ondori lace book.
A foggy view from my balcony :-)

I took this photo yesterday morning around 8 and the photo below was taken few months back from the same angle..
I've transferred the pattern onto the fabric for a new crewel embroidery project..more on that next time.
Happy stitching!
Anita.
